NEW-OPEN WORK PERMIT TO BE GIVEN TO ALL PGWP HOLDERS

The hopes we had from 2021 are definitely getting fulfilled as it's just the end of the first month and IRCC came up with another good news. The students who are currently residing in Canada on a Post-Graduation Work Permit can now apply for a new open work permit visa. This means that the international students who migrated to Canada for the purpose of completing their post graduation are now eligible for an open-work permit. Now, you might be wondering what is an Open-Work Permit? An open-work permit is a type of document that allows any immigrant in Canada to work under an employer as per their qualifications. Unlike an employer-specific-work permit, this permit gives you the right to work under any employer of your choice. With an employer-specific-work permit, the worker is bound to work under one particular employer but with an open-work permit, the power of choosing your own employer from various employers in British Columbia is granted. This enables a student in Canada to look for work after the completion of their degree without being answerable to just one employer.  The requisites to get an open-work permit are as following  

1. A PGWP which expired on 30th January 2020 or after that or  A PGWP that is going to expire in about 4 months or less from the date of application
2. The applicant should be present in Canada itself. 
3. The applicant should have a temporary status 
4. The applicant should have a valid passport.

Once a candidate has all of this, he or she can apply for an open-work permit directly.    Why is IRCC allowing a new work permit? IRCC encouraged this permit in order to attract foreign students who would come here and find security of employment. This way, the population of skilled immigrant workers will increase and the goal of enhancing the canadian economy can be achieved.  The students who have graduated from Designated Learning Institutions(DLIs) may get a PGWP for about 3 years. The working experience that they cater after their education completion adds up and helps them when the immigration application is sent.   PGWP is also another gateway to get permanent residency in Canada as the students from foreign countries who want to settle in Canada can use the Post-graduation Work Permit because the work experience of Canada is going to benefit them while filing for the PR as an immigrant.    In the past few times, a lot of students faced the problem of reduced work by the employer as well as temporary job employment opportunities as well as employer dominance. This led to discouragement among immigrants.
