Ontario Skilled Trades Stream Express Entry

Ontario PNP, under the PNP Canada, offers a stream named as Ontario express entry skilled trades stream. The Ontario Skilled Trades stream allows experienced skilled workers in an eligible work trade to gain a permanent residency in Ontario under the Ontario immigration process.  In order to qualify for the Ontario Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream, under the PNP Canada program, a candidate need to score points under the federal skilled trade program points calculator. In order to gain Ontario PR under the Ontario Express Entry Skilled trades Stream of Ontario PNP program in PNP Canada, a candidate needs to do things as per the Ontario Permanent Residency (PR) rules.

As the stream is one of the parts of Express Entry of Canada, a candidate who is ssuccessful receives an additional 600 points under the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). Then after this they receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for obtaining the Permanent residency (PR) of Ontario or Ontario PR.

Eligibility

In order to be eligible for the Ontario Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream, candidate needs to qualify some conditions. These conditions are laid out by Ontario Immigration which comes under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) of Canada Immigration.

✍ Candidates must be eligible for the Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

✍ Candidates must have a valid profile in the federal Express Entry pool.

✍ Candidates must possess a Notification of Interest from Ontario through the IRCC Express Entry online account.

✍ Candidates must indicate an interest in immigrating to either Ontario or “All Provinces and Territories”, as designated in the Express Entry profile.

Provincial Eligibility Criteria

In order to be eligible for the Ontario Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream, candidates must fulfill some additional conditions as well.  Following are those conditions:-

✍ A candidate must be possession of trade license or certification from the Ontario College of Trades, if the candidate is working, or has worked, in an occupation in Ontario that requires a license or certification.

✍ Candidates must possess atleast 12 months of full-time (or the equivalent in part-time) work experience in Ontario within two years from the date of issuance of the Notification of Interest (NOI) from Ontario. Work experience must be in a skilled trade occupation listed in Minor Group 633 or Major Group 72, 73, or 82 of the National Occupational Classification (NOC) system.

✍ A candidate must maintain a minimum level of settlement funds.

✍ A candidate must have the intention to reside in Ontario.

✍ Candidates must be currently residing in Ontario on a valid work permit.

✍ A candidate must have minimum of Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 5 in English or in French. This must be proved by taking a standardized language test recognized by the governments of Ontario and Canada.

Ontario PNP Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream Application Process

In order to file the application for Ontario Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream, a candidate needs to follow a particular process. This process makes the activities more streamlined and the candidates can attain the visa under this category in easy manner.  Following is the process of the same:-

✍ Online Express Entry profile creation

Initially candidates need to build a profile under the express entry system via online medium. Once a candidate receives a Express Entry profile number and a job seeker validation code, they need express interest in Ontario or All Provinces and territories. After this they need to submit application for Ontario Immigration Nominee Program (OINP).  Candidates must qualify for Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

✍ Identification of candidates in Express Entry pool by OINP

OINP searches the express entry pool which fits in the in demand occupation of the Ontario province.  Once the right candidate is selected they receive a Notification of Interest (NOI) from Ontario through IRCC online account.

✍ Applying to Ontario PNP under the Skilled Trade Stream

After receiving the Notification of Interest (NOI) a candidate has 45 days in hand to apply for OINP under the Ontario’s Express Entry Trades Stream. In order to apply for the same a candidate must submit their application through OINP e-filing portal with supporting documents. In addition to this a candidate needs to submit anon refundable application fee of $1500, which includes the cost of processing the application.  Then after this the OINP will assess the nomination of the candidate according to the Skilled Trades Stream eligibility criteria.

✍ Nomination acceptance and Permanent Residency (PR) application

If a candidate’s application is approved by Ontario Immigration, they will receive a notification from the OINP’s end on the IRCC online account about the same. A candidate has 30 days to accept the nomination of Ontario in Express Entry. This will be advantageous for the candidate as they gain an additional 600 points in the points system under the Canada Immigration and receive an Invitation To Apply (ITA) for permanent residency (PR). After receiving of Invitation To Apply (ITA) a candidate has 90 days to submit their application for permanent residence to IRCC.
