What is the Express Entry System?

Canada’s Express Entry System looks after the pool of candidates for the three major economic-immigration categories of Canada – the Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class, and Canadian Experience Class. Candidates who are eligible to apply for the Express Entry program are ranked in the Express Entry pool based on factors such as age, education, skilled worker experience, and English/French proficiency and are awarded the CRS score based on these factors.

Candidates don’t need to have job-offer to apply for Express entry, though additional points are given to a candidate if he/she has one. A set number of candidates are issued with invitation to apply for Canada Permanent residence through regular draws of the Express Entry pool, which takes place every two weeks.

Canada Express Entry-aligned provincial nominee programs

Candidates with low score compared to November 13 Draw have another alternate option to increase their CRS score and the most beneficial among them is to receive a provincial nomination through express entry-linked provincial nominee stream. Express candidates with a provincial nomination certificate get an additional 600 CRS points to their overall CRS score assuring their chances to get invitation to apply for Canada permanent residence.
