Australia’s new Skilled Regional Visas i.e., Skilled Work Regional Visa Subclass 491 and Skilled Employer-Sponsored Regional Visa Subclass 494 are going to start accepting the applications from November 16, 2019. These new skilled regional visas will replace the existing regional visas, i.e. Skilled Regional provisional visa subclass 489 and Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme Visa Subclass 187 – Direct Entry Stream. These two visas will replace the popular regional visas – Subclass 489 and Subclass 187.
Subclass 489 is a four-year provisional visa that allows an applicant to live, work and resides in regional areas of Australia provided you have nomination/sponsorship from relatives living in there or from state/territory government of Australia. On the other hand, as per the declaration from the Australian Government, the subclass 187 visa –Direct Entry stream will be closed to new applications from November 16, 2019. Therefore, the employers under this visa program who wish to submit RSMS nomination and visa applications under the direct entry stream have to lodge a request for valuation by a specific Regional Certifying Body (RCB) following local labor market conditions before the closing date.
