Quebec Skilled Worker Program to Have New Online Expression of Interest Portal In September

According to Quebec, “Arrima” Portal will be convenient for users

As per the Quebec’s Immigration Ministry (MIDI), The Quebec Skilled Worker Program (QSWP) is going to have the new online portal that will only be provided to users in September. The new portal known as “Arrima” is going through the final user experience tests and should be provided in September. The MIDI didn’t tell the date in September on which the portal will be online.

This Arrima portal to be used for the management of the immigration applicants’ profiles that are submitted by means of the QSWP’s new Expression of Interest system. The Quebec province appeared as the most recent province that opted for a system based on an Expression of Interest (EOI) on 2 August.

Interested immigration applicants have to make a profile and provide answers to some questions at the beginning in an EOI system. According to the Quebec immigration authority, a candidate has to give necessary information about the following while making their own EOI profile:

  1. Personal information
  2. Family details
  3. Contact details
  4. Status in Quebec
  5. Educational Qualifications
  6. Work experience
  7. Valid job offer (if applicable)
  8. Language skills
  9. Other necessary information

The candidate will be given a rank in the Quebec’s EOI bank as per their answers.

The Federal Express Entry system also works as per an EOI method, and it issues Invitation to Apply (ITAs) to the candidates with highest points for the Canadian permanent residency (PR) through the Express Entry draws conducted regularly.

As per the Quebec, those candidates who are in its EOI bank will be invited to apply for a Quebec Selection Certificate or CSQ according to their age, employability factors, area of training, educational qualifications, work experience, and proficiency in French. After that, those candidates who receive an Invitation to Apply for a Quebec Selection Certificate and submit an application have to obtain the passing scores needed for the program according to the QSWP Points Grid.

The Quebec’s EOI system terminates its first-come, first-served method for accepting an application to the Quebec Skilled Worker Program. in the first-come, first-served approach, those candidates not qualifying for cap-exempt status under the QSQP were permitted to submit their applications at specified times of the year, and only until a fixed quota was fulfilled. Now, any individual of 18 years of age or above can submit an EOI profile anytime, the province can give Invitations to Apply for a CSQ on a more regular basis.

According to the MIDI in its news release, this new system will make possible for the Quebec’s immigration authority to give invitations continuously and fast to a skilled worker whose profile meets the requirements of businesses in the regions around the Quebec province. Apart from this, this system will also lessen the application processing times and reduce the time it consumes for a selected candidate to reach Canada.
