Prince Edward Island province held the latest draw under the PEI provincial nominee program on July 18 and issued 135 invitations to skilled candidates in its Express Entry, Labour Impact, and Business Impact streams.
Prince Edwards Island is one of the growing provinces of Canada and is a participating province in Canada’s Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). The PNP is designed to nominate skilled workers, International Graduates, and Entrepreneurs for permanent residence in Canada depending on the labor market requirements of the provinces who participates in the PNP.
Canada’s Federal Express Entry System is aligned with the PEI PNP’s Express Entry Category and enables the province to nominate candidates under the Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class, and Canadian Experience Class for permanent residence. The Express Entry candidates who get a provincial nomination certificate from the province receive an additional 600 points in their overall CRS score and their chances of receiving an ITA for PR visa increases.
The Labour Impact Category of the PEI and the Express Entry System are not connected and is segregated into three streams- International Graduates, Critical Workers, and Skilled Workers. Candidates who apply under any of these streams should be working in the province or have a full-time employment offer from an approved employer in the province. Individuals with a provincial nomination certificate under Express Entry and Labour Impact category of the PEI PNP are eligible to apply for a provincial nomination for permanent residence.
The business candidates who get invitations through the Entrepreneur: Work permit Stream has to apply for a letter of support from the PEIPNP to get a temporary work permit. If you fulfill the requirements of their business performance agreement, you will be given with a provincial nomination for permanent residence.
Candidates who want to immigrate to PEI can apply under Express Entry, Labour Impact and Business Impact categories by submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI) to the PEI PNP. Eligible candidates under each category are entered into the pool, where rank is given as per the points system of every category. Then, the high-ranking candidates are invited through the regular draws from PEI’s pool.
In this latest draw, the minimum score for Business impact candidates was 112 whereas no score is provided for Express Entry and Labour Impact candidates. The minimum score for Business Impact candidates was 112.
