Ontario PNP (OINP) Filled Up Its Nomination Cap For 2018

The Province of Ontario under its Provincial Nominee Program has reached its full quota of nomination allocation for the year of 2018. The 6600 invitations were issued under Provincial Nominee Program across various streams. Amongst all the candidates more than 95% of the Express Entry candidates were issued nominations.

As per the province, they will still accept and consider new candidates and those candidates who have already submitted their profiles under the Ontario PNP 2019. But there is an exception of currently paused Master’s Graduate Stream.

The Ontario province is a part of Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) of Canada which allows all the participating provinces to nominate a set number of candidates for immigration.

The most popular province of Canada is Ontario and it is made the largest Provincial Nomination Program with allocation of 6600 nominations.

Ontario is yet to announce allocations for the year of 2019. It is expected that the total might increase this new year. In 2018 the allocation was 600 slots higher than previous year i.e. 6000 nominations in 2017.

As per the federal government government’s new multi-year immigration plans, the target for admissions in 2019 under the Provincial Nomination Programs is 61000 which is 6000 higher than 2018 i.e. 55000.

Nominations Lead By Human Capital Priorities Stream

Amongst the three streams of Ontario linked to Express Entry, Human Capital Priorities Stream has been the most active this year which issues 6411 nominations this year.

Express Entry system of Canada Immigration has three federal economic immigration categories – Federal Skilled Worker Class, Canadian Experience Class and Federal Skilled Trades Class, which helps to manage the pool of candidates classified under different streams.

OINP streams that are attached to Express Entry are Human Capital Priorities Stream, Skilled Trades Streams and French Speaking Skilled Worker Stream. This helps the province to search for potential candidates who meet the eligibility criteria from the pool of Express Entry System.

Candidates receive an extra 600 points under the Comprehensive Ranking Score and makes the process of Invitation to apply faster.

The Human Capital Priorities Stream which is linked to Express Entry has given the most nominations this year. The major chunk of nominations under this stream occurred in the initial two months of the year when 5 rounds out of 8 took place. HCP made the 50 percent of total allocations for the year of 2018 with 3534 candidates invited to apply for Ontario PNP.

Under the eight HCP invitations held, three were targeted draws which included the two that prioritized the candidates in the pool of Express Entry with job offer in the province of Ontario. The other one was French language proficiency which is equivalent to CLB 7 or above and the score of English language which is level of CLB 6 or above.

The provincial nominee program of Ontario followed the draw that was held on 9th of August with a news in September that it moved away the score of 400 under the CRS System for the HCP stream. The director of Ontario PNP would determine the minimum score for HCP.

The French Speaking Skilled Worker and Skilled Trades Stream were also active besides HCP stream issuing combined 2880 invitations this year. Total nominations issued under these streams are 43 per cent approx of the Ontario PNP nominations in 2018.

A vital change is introduced to all the three streams that are attached to the Express Entry saw a number of days that were adjusted to 45 days. Previously candidates only had 14 days to submit the complete application for nomination. This gives more time to candidates to submit their application for Ontario PNP.
