Revision of CRS minimum rule for Human Capital Priorities Stream by Ontario

The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score requirement for the Express Entry-linked Human Capital Priorities immigration stream has been revised by Ontario recently. Previously, the minimum CRS score needed to qualify for the express entry was 400 points at least. But with effect to new guidelines, the score will be determined by the director.

Candidates are also required to mention their intention of moving to Ontario or ‘all provinces and territories’ while creating an Express Entry profile.

The Ontario Immigration Nominee Program (OINP) has given waiver in CRS score minimum 400 for three draws in this year. Out of three draws, two pinpointed the express entry applicants holding a job offer in Ontario whereas other one targeted the candidates with CLB 7 or higher.

Till now Ontario has dropped its minimum score limit for these draws and slightly pushed the score to 350 points for its August 9 job offer draw.

Ontario’s most dynamic and popular immigration stream, Human Capital Priorities Stream (HCP) permits the OINP to search the candidates from the federal express entry pool who accomplishes the stream’s eligibility requirements.

In 2018, through HCP Ontario has issued total of 3534 notification of Interest to the express entry candidates who were selected. Through Notification of Interest, immigrants can apply to Ontario immigration nomination program. The Express Entry system is responsible for managing the express entry profiles for the three skilled economic programs namely Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class and the Canadian Experience Class.

The candidates who receive provincial nomination for the Ontario permanent residency are granted extra 600 points towards their CRS score that will pave the way towards getting Invitation to Apply (ITA) in the Express entry draw. Also, the first step is to find whether you are eligible for the Federal Express Entry pool.
