New Express Entry Draw Issues 3900 Invitations

The Canadian government issued 3900 new invitations for Express Entry candidates in the draw held on 15th of November 2018. The Comprehensive Ranking Score (CRS) score accepted in the draw is 449. This new draw is  just short of 2017 express entry record i.e. it is just 8000 invitations less than previous year.

The total number of invitations issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada in this latest draw is 78100 which is just short of previous year’s total of 86023 invitations.

Express Entry System manages the pool of candidates under three high Skilled economic immigration programs i.e. Federal Skilled Worker Class, Canadian Experience Class and Federal Skilled Trades Class.

In order to be eligible for the Express Entry Program, candidates need to score points under the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). This helps to determine the position of the candidates in Express entry pool and the highest ranked candidates are issued an Invitation to Apply (ITA).

Lowest score accepted in this new draw is 449 which is higher than the previous Express Entry draw held on 29th of October.

The Canadian government has used tie break rule in this new draw. The date and time considered for this is 16th September 2018 at 12:41:42 UTC. This meant that the candidates who has scored 449 or above since the date and time mentioned are considered under this draw.

As more time is allowed to elapse between the draws, number of candidates increase in the Express Entry pool which ultimately affects the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. Under this case 17 days are allowed between the elapse draws which is three days longer as compared to previous 2 weeks period.

The most popular option for nomination under the Express Entry System has been linked to Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) which helps to gain an extra 600 points almost guaranteeing the Invitation to Apply for Permanent Residency PR.

The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) of Canada immigration allows the participating provinces to nominate the requisite number of candidates each year for Canadian PR. Each province has atleast one immigration stream which is linked to Express Entry system.

Of all the Express entry aligned stream the Ontario, Saskatchewan, British Columbia and Prince Edward Island has been active in 2018. Ontario province has 3 streams that are linked to Express Entry which has accounted to 95% of all the nominations issued this year.

This new draw continued the trend set on 5th September that saw IRCC issued 3900 ITA in 5 of the six programs held since that day. This has helped to set Express entry draw in October with 11700 invitations which is more than double as compared to previous year figures i.e. 5558 invitations.

IRCC’s target for the Federal High Skilled Immigration Category in 2018 is 74900 new permanent residents. This is predicted to grow to 81400 in 2019, 85800 in 2020 and 88800 in 2021 under the Canada’s upgraded immigration plan.

Most of the candidates who have submitted the applications to Federal High Skilled category have the applications filed for Permanent Residency status  which has been processed through Express Entry system.
