New Express Entry Draw Invites 3900 Applicants for Canada PR Visa

The draw held in October 3 gives invitations to 3,900 express entry candidates where they can apply for Permanent Residency as determined by the government. The Comprehensive Raking System score laid for this draw is 445 points.

This particular invitation was the third draw in three weeks from express entry pool. This is the largest return of 3,900 Invitations to apply or more commonly ITAs drawn in the year 2018.

The Express Entry system is responsible for regulating and managing the candidate’s Express Entry profile. Under Express Entry, there are three main federal economic immigration categories — the Federal Skilled Worker Class, the Federal Skilled Trades Class and the Canadian Experience Class.

The year 2018 has witnessed introduction of large, standardized draws by IRCC and the intensity have accelerated up to the current rate of 3,900 ITAs.

With respect to latest study, it is noted that in first two draws IRCC maintained a base of 2,750 ITAs  which gradually heightened with addition of 250 or 500 ITAs every eight weeks. The increments in invitation reached to 3,900 on September 5. The only deviation that marks in the growth of ITAs issued is on September 19 where the draw size diminished to 3,500.

In total, IRCC has issued around 66,400 ITAs over 21 draws in 2018.

The target has been set up by the Government of Canada Multi-Year Immigration Levels Plan which pinpoints  74,900 admissions in year 2018 and 81,400 for 2019 through the Federal Skilled Worker Class, the Federal Skilled Trades Class and the Canadian Experience Class.

Before September 19 the CRS minimum score was 441 which is now increased to four more points as 445.

The tie-break date and time used in the draw was October 2, 2018 at 04:02:11 UTC. This indicates that all the applicants scoring 445 points or above who have submitted their profile this date and time have received an ITA for this round.

The candidates can improve their score by involving a provincial nomination which will add additional 600 points to the current score. The CRS system is used to evaluate the candidate’s ability and grants points based on factor age, work experience, education, English or French language proficiency etc.

The candidates that are ranked higher will be invited to apply through multiple invitation draw rounds.

Express entry linked Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) remained much active during the year 2018 and new streams have been announced in the provinces Nova Scotia and Alberta.

Every Canadian province PNP from now and has at least one Express Entry-linked nomination stream.

“The return to 3,900 ITAs in this invitation round is a welcome development,” said David Cohen, senior partner with the Campbell Cohen Canadian immigration law firm in Montreal. “If the Government of Canada maintains this number of ITAs in subsequent draws, 2018 could surpass the number of ITAs issued last year.”
