Canada’s most economical province, Prince Edward Island invited a total of 113 candidates in its new Draw took place on June 20. Invitations were issued to the candidates under Express Entry, Labour Impact, and Business Impact Immigration categories.
Prince Edward Island organizes monthly invitation rounds for Immigration candidates who are qualified and meet the labor market needs of the province. Immigration candidates who receive an invitation through PEI’s Express Entry or Labour Impact categories are eligible to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence. Out of 113 invitations, around 106 invitations went to candidates under both these categories.
Prince Edward Island is the most active province and its PEI PNP helped the province attain 1.8% population growth equal to Ontario for highest population growth in the country.
PEI’s Express Entry Stream is aligned with the Federal Express Entry system, which is Canada’s main source of inviting skilled foreign labor to be the part of Canada as a permanent resident. Express Entry candidates with provincial nomination get an additional 600 points to their overall CRS score, which ensures an invitation to apply from the Canadian Federal government for permanent residence.
To be eligible to apply for a provincial nomination through whichever category, your first step should be to register an Expression of Interest (EOI) with the Prince Edward Island’s Immigrant Nominee Program, known as PEI PNP. Once you submit an expression of interest, you get a score based on factors like education, work experience and proficiency in English/French, out of 100 and the candidates who get the highest score gets the invitation to apply for a provincial nomination through regular draws that take place on monthly basis.
Talking about the Business Impact- Work Permit Stream invitations, a total of seven invitations were issued to candidates under this stream. This stream belongs to the overseas entrepreneurs having business ownership or management experience and is interested to invest and run a business in Prince Edward Island. Candidates who receive an invitation through PEI’s Work Permit Stream need to look for approval for their business offer. Once approval is received, they receive a letter of support from PEI and are eligible to apply for a temporary work permit from Canada’s federal government. This work stream functions on an EOI basis and talking about the previous draw held on March 21, the lowest-ranked candidate had a score of 112.
