Latest two Alberta Express Entry Stream Draws details released

Alberta province has released the details of the latest two Alberta Express Entry Stream draws including score requirements and invitations given to the number of candidates. Recently on January 22, 2020, a total of 201 invitations were sent to candidates under the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program to apply for a provincial nomination for permanent residence in Canada. In this draw, candidates had to score a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) of over 350 to be invited.

Within a week, the Next Alberta Draw was conducted on January 29, 2020, where a total of 150 invitations were issued to Express Entry candidates with CRS as low as 300. In January alone, Alberta invited a total of 501 Express Entry candidates for invitation to apply for Canada Permanent Residence.

 Alberta Express Entry Stream

The Alberta Express Entry Stream which is one of the major streams of the AINP chooses the eligible candidates with a profile in the Federal Express Entry System that operates the pool of candidates for Canada Immigration programs – the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Canada Experience Class.

In addition to it, Express Entry candidates having Alberta provincial nomination get an additional 600 points to their overall CRS score that increases the chances of receiving invitation to apply for Canada Permanent residence in the next federal Express Entry Draw. One of the biggest advantages the Alberta Express Entry Stream holds is that it caters an opportunity to Express Entry candidates with low CRS scores to get permanent residence in Canada.

To be considered for the Alberta Express Entry Stream, prospective candidates must have an occupation that reflects the economic development and diversification priorities of the province. Though the AINP has not its list of eligible occupations, it is not mandatory to have a job offer in Alberta for issuing of invitation to apply for a provincial nomination.

Preferences are given to candidates if they meet the below-given requirements:

  1. A job offer or work experience in Alberta;
  2. A degree from a Canada post-secondary institution and a valid job offer; or,
  3. A parent, child or sibling already living in the province.
