Prince Edward Island issued a total of 122 invitations to candidates to apply for a provincial nomination through its PEI PNP under Express Entry, labor Impact and Business Impact immigration categories in the latest draw held September 19, 2019. The Invitations were issued to candidates in the Express Entry and Labor Impact categories and the Business Impact: Work permit Stream.
Under the Prince Edward Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP), 109 invitations were segregated between the popular PEI PNP streams – the Express Entry and Labour Impact streams. And, remaining 13 went to candidates under Business Impact: Work Permit Stream. Though, it has not been revealed how many Express entries got invitations and what was the minimum score.
The Express Entry Category of PEI is for applicants having a profile in the Federal Express Entry System. Canada’s Express Entry looks after the pool of candidates for three main economic-Immigration categories – the Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class, and Canadian Experience Class. A EOI score is given to profiles in the pool on basis of factors such as education, work experience; English/French proficiency and the highest-ranked applicants get an invitation to apply for a provincial nomination taking place through regular draws. As per the PEI PNP, Express Entry candidates living and working in PEI get main priority.
The Business Impact: Work Permit Stream of PEI is for eligible foreign entrepreneurs with experience in management or has a business owner who wishes to run a business in PEI by investing in the province. Express Entry applicants with a provincial nomination get additional 600 points in their overall CRS score. The PEI’s labor Impact category is not a part of the Express Entry system and has its own three EOI-based streams – Skilled Workers (in PEI and outside Canada), International Graduates and Critical Workers. Candidates considered to be eligible under these streams must be working in PEI or have an eligible full-time, long-term job offer from an approved PEI employer, among other criteria. In the year 2019, the PEI PNP has issued 1,031 invitations to both the Express Entry and Labour Market Impact categories applicants so far.
