Changes in  South Australia State Nominate Program

The Immigration to South Australia has brought about some major changes in its General Skilled Migration (GSM) state nomination policies. Immigration Australia has recently made a few changes in its General Skilled Migration (GSM) nomination program. With an effect of New Skilled Work Regional Visa Subclass 491, South Australia has updated its State Nomination Occupation List, among other changes in state nomination. No changes have been made in the occupation list that was listed under the “Special Conditions Apply”.

What are the upcoming changes in South Australia State Nomination Program?

  1. As per the Department of Home Affairs, there is an increase in the minimum points score for a few occupations and categories. To be eligible for State nomination, the minimum point score for some occupations would be at least 75 or 85 points. Though, candidates who are graduated from overseas and hold at least 12 months of work experience have to acquire at least 65 points to qualify. Moreover, there is a requirement of 75 points to qualify under the Chain Migration Category.
  2. There are limited visa places available under the Subclass 190 visa; therefore, there would be additional eligibility requirements. The applicants now require 90 points to be eligible and also, under the Chain Migration Category, there is a requirement of 75 points to qualify.
  3. There is an increase of 10% in the application fee for all state nomination for Immigration South Australia. This new fee structure will be applicable on the visa applications submitted on or after December 4, 2019.

South Australia Government had made it clear that there will be no further additions going to take place in the State Nominated Occupation List when the system starts going to accept applications. Immigration South Australia is accepting state nomination applications under the subclass 190 and subclass 491 visa categories.
