The regulating authority IRCC is reopening its expressions of interest under Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship Program which is designed especially for the parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents who are over the age of 18. This program gives the right to Canada PR holders and citizens to sponsor their Parents for Canada Permanent Residency.
In the year 2019, the government of Canada is resolute to invite 20,000 new immigrants under this sponsorship program. Candidates need to match the eligibility requirements and submit Interest to Sponsor form to receive Invitation to Apply (ITA).
The system of First come, first-served will be employed as selection criteria and the old system of irregular lottery process has been replaced and dissolved. The replacement was due to perpetual criticism by those who have applied under this system in order to sponsor their parents and grandparents and bring them to live permanently in Canada.
“Using this modified intake process will give the government more flexibility in the application process, ensuring that we receive as many applications as possible,” IRCC said.
