IT sector is in demand

Over 80,000 skilled visas were granted in the last Fiscal year and the IT sector occupations ruled the market. Well, there are a few ICT jobs like data Scientist which are presently in high demand but are not available on the SOL because of non-inclusion in the ANZSCO amplification. There is no update in the ANZSCO classifications from the last 6 years. The Chief economist of the Australia Committee for Economic Development says that with the outdated ANZSCO classification, it is difficult for employers in the ICT segment to recruit foreign workers.

To deal with this error, the Australia government has introduced its Global talent Scheme allowing the tech sector to invite skilled and qualified skilled workers. Although, the new occupations are still not added in the main Skilled Migration programs.

As per the announcement was given by the Morrison Government, over 23,000 places are allocated to regional migration places and the government is planning to come up with new ways to meet the labor gap.
