For the Fiscal year 2019-20, the Australian Government has come up with the Occupation ceiling limit. The high in demand occupations which face labor shortage is seen in the list of Eligible Occupations of Australia. The occupation top limit is relevant to invitations given under the General Skilled Migration program for Skilled Independent visa and Skilled Regional Provisional Visa.
This limit condition does not apply to subclasses that come under State/territory nominations, Employer Sponsorship or Business Innovation and Investment visa.
Every year thousands of Overseas skilled workers apply for Australia Immigration under the Skilled Migration Program of the country which nominates the candidates on the occupations that are listed in Australia’s Skilled Occupation List. Presently, the SOL list consists of 200 occupations and is updated from time to time by DHA (Department of Home Affairs) depending on the occupations that are in demand in the country.
But, there’s a condition of maximum limit to the Expression of Interest or invites issue by an occupation group which is known as occupation ceiling. Once the maximum limit of a particular occupation reaches, no invitations will be issued to candidates with same occupations in the program year.
The occupation ceiling gives you an idea, as to which occupation is in demand. Presently, the ceiling limit of Registered Nurses is over 17,000. On the other hand, the ceiling limit is 8,000 for occupations such as software and applications programmers, Secondary School teachers and Electricians.
|Occupation||Description||Occupation Ceiling Limit|
|2414||Secondary School Teachers||8,052|
|2613||Software and Application Programmers||8,748|
|3312||Carpenters and Joiners||8,536|
Australia is always in demand of IT occupations and for the program year, 2019-20 brings the same opportunities for applicants. The occupation ceiling of occupations such as Software and Applications Programmers, database and systems administrators and ICT Security Specialists, etc, is quite momentous this time.
