Newfoundland and Labrador Occupation List 2018 offers eligible job positions for applicants who wish to immigrate to the state of Newfoundland and Labrador. The applicants need to score enough points on the Newfoundland and Labrador points calculator for being eligible to immigrate under the Newfoundland and Labrador PNP for being able to immigrate to Canada and getting a Canadian Permanent Residency permit.

Newfoundland and Labrador employers sponsor international skilled workers for Canadian permanent residence. Sponsored applicants must be working in a National Occupational Classification (NOC) Skill Level 0, A, B or C, D occupation under the Skilled Worker Category.

The National Occupations Classification (NOC) list is used to classify the occupations (jobs) that are grouped on the following basis

  1. Job Duties
  2. Work Done by the person

The main job groups for immigration purpose are:

Skill Type 0 (Zero) – Management Jobs

  1. Restaurant Jobs
  2. Shore Captains (Fishing)
  3. Mine Managers.

Skill Level A – Professional Jobs (Usually require a University Degree).

  1. Doctors
  2. Dentist
  3. Architects

Skill Level B – Technical Jobs (Usually require a College Diploma or apprenticeship)

  1. Chefs
  2. Plumbers
  3. Electricians

Skill Level C – Intermediate Jobs (Require a high school diploma or job specific training)

  1. Industrial butchers
  2. Long-haul truck drivers
  3. Food and beverage servers

Skill Level D – Labour Jobs (Usually give on the job training)

  1. Fruit Pickers
  2. Cleaning Staff
  3. Oil Field Workers

Newfoundland and Labrador Skilled Worker Category

Through this category, workers can be nominated if they have specialized skills that have an impact on the operations of an employer in the province.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants may be eligible if they meet the following requirements:

  1. Have a full-time job offer from a Newfoundland and Labrador employer, or a job/job offer with a salary and benefits package that meets provincial employment standards and that does not contravene any existing bargaining unit agreements or employment disputes;
  2. Have a valid work permit or be eligible to apply for one;
  3. Have the experience needed to perform the job, including accreditation if needed;
  4. Demonstrate the intention and ability to settle in the province;
  5. Demonstrate sufficient funds to settle in the province;
  6. Provide proof of English or French proficiency. English language proficiency must be verified by one of the following:
    • An Affidavit of English Language Ability from the Newfoundland and Labrador employer who has offered the worker a job, or
    • Education and/or training documents, or
    • Workers in NOC level C and D occupations must meet minimum language requirements; and
  7. Employers must be able to demonstrate a need for the applicant’s particular skill set
