Difference between Australia Working Holiday Visa and Work and Holiday visa

Australia Working Holiday Visas allows you to spend your holidays along with the right to work. On this visa, you can complete a short-term course study for up to four months. The goal of organizing this visa program is to allow young people between 18 and 30 years from different nations to discover and explore Australian life. You can reside in the country for twelve months and do short-term employment.

On July 31, 2019, the Australia Government has decided to include thirteen more countries in its list that can come and work in the nation on this visa. India to be included in this visa program. The addition of these countries is to meet the shortage gap of Regional areas of Australia, especially in the Agriculture field.

Australia Working Holiday Visas are of two types – Working Holiday Visa Subclass 417 and Work and Holiday Visa Subclass 462. Individuals are given a chance to visit and discover the country by giving them the right to live and work up to 12 months. The period can be extended for over a year if they have undertaken work in a specific job in Regional Australia.

You have to apply outside Australia for both these subcategories. Applicants have sufficient funds to look after their expenses until the time they are in the country. If you want to apply for Second Working Holiday Visa, you have to show three months experience in a specified occupation. And, you can travel frequent times in and outside Australia.  You have to make sure that you are not accompanied by any Dependent Children. The purpose behind both these visas is the same but it does have certain differences that you should be aware of while applying to any of the subclasses:

a)      Passport Requirement

  1. Working Holiday Visa Subclass 417 visa allows citizens of “List of Eligible Countries” to apply for this visa. The list includes Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Italy, Norway, Sweden, The Netherlands, Ireland, UK, Estonia, Germany, Japan, Malta, Hong Kong, South Korea, Cyprus, and Taiwan.
  2. Work and Holiday Visa Subclass 462 visa consist of passport holders of countries Argentina, Bangladesh, Chile, China, Ecuador, Hungary, Indonesia, Israel, Thailand, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Poland, Portugal, Turkey, San Marino, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, USA, and Uruguay.

b)      English Language and Education Requirement

There is no barrier for education and English language for the Subclass 417 holders whereas there are a few conditions on English language and education requirements for subclass 462 visa holders. Also, if you want to apply under the Work and Holiday Visa subclass 462, you have to provide a letter of support from their native government unless they are citizens of China, USA, or Israel.
