Quebec skilled worker program (QSWP) is specifically constructed to select skilled foreign candidates on the basis of their ability to establish economically, after their immigration to Quebec.

Skilled Immigrants who wish to settle within Quebec are examined under an organized system which is distinct from the immigration system applied to those who need to settle into other regions of Canada.

QSWP: Important guidelines and dates to note

The following guidelines are authorized by the Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Diversité et de l’Inclusion (MIDI – government body responsible for Quebec immigration):

  • Within the time period of 13 June 2016 – 20 June 2016, around 5,000 applications will be welcomed. The amount of application intake will be specified to 41,000 applicants approximately. Please note that candidates who already have a Mon projet Québec account created in the month of January as this project is not open for any new registrations before the fresh intake of June.
  • Further 5,000 more applications will be welcomed later with another intake of applications. The date for the same is yet to be announced.

From January 2016, In order to submit an application for Canada immigration QSWP, applicants must use the Mon projet Québec.

What you need to be eligible for Quebec skilled worker program?

Candidates for Quebec Skilled Worker Program are assessed through a unique system which is based upon several selection factors. These factors are not the same used for Federal Skilled Worker Program from CIC. Following the selection, the candidates are issued a Quebec selection certificate which eventually takes them to the Canadian Permanent Residency (Immigration) Visa. The Candidates must complete the medical and criminal record checks prior their application to CIC for Canadian Permanent Residency Visa (Canada PR Visa).

In order to qualify applicant must score required points under the Quebec Immigration selection system.

  • At least 49 points – for single (unmarried) applicant.
  • At least 57 points – for applicant with a spouse or common-law partner.

In order to score points for language proficiency Results of Language examinations must be submitted with the Immigration application.

  • Know more about authorized French tests – Proving French Language Ability.
  • Know more about authorized English tests – Proving English Language Ability – International English Language Testing System (IELTS).

After this each candidate must also go for medical and security examinations which are organized by the Canadian government for Canada permanent resident visa program.

Quebec applicants are not selected on the basis of the Federal Skilled Worker criteria. Skilled Candidates are supposed to clear Quebec Immigration selection criteria in order to grab Canada PR Visa.
