New Comprehensive Ranking system CRS changes 2017 effective Now

On 6 June & 8 June, 2017 Canada Immigration Authorities (IRCC) made some new changes in the Comprehensive Ranking system under Express Entry. According to which applicants whose profile has already been submitted into the Express Entry pool of candidates can grab new additional points under the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). Also changes have been done for Canada Job bank registration and CRS Ranking techniques.


The new Comprehensive Ranking system CRS changes 2017 are as follows:

Applicants will not face any reduction in the CRS points and will maintain the existing score. But applicants having with sibling in Canada or acquiring proven French ability might discover uplift in the CRS score.

Comprehensive ranking system CRS changes 2017: sibling factor

As per the IRCC authorities, ‘newcomers having a sibling in Canada resulted in improved health and social outgrowth by speeding up the process of adjusting into their new life in Canada.’

Applicants whose profile has been submitted in the Express Entry candidate’s pool will be given 15 additional CRS points in case they or their spouse/common-law partner have a sibling aged 18 or above holding Canada Citizenship or Canada Permanent residency. Applicants having multiple siblings in Canada will also be given only 15 points and not 15 points per sibling. The primary applicant or their spouse/common-law partner must have same mother and/or father with the Canadian sibling quoted in the application. The relationship can be accepted via blood, adoption, marriage, or common-law partnership.

Comprehensive ranking system CRS changes 2017: French language factor

15 additional CRS points will be given to applicants who acquire French ability which is equal to CLB 7 or above and English ability of CLB 4 or less. Applicants having intermediate or above French proficiency along with English ability of CLB 5 or above may acquire 30 additional points.

Applicants must take the Test d’Évaluation de Français (TEF) in order to grab points under the French ability factor.

Comprehensive ranking system CRS changes 2017: New ranking technique

If two or more profiles which are submitted in the Express Entry Pool of Candidate, scores the exactly same CRS points, they will be then ranked on the basis of their submission date and time.

Kindly note that profile updations will not change the original submission time and date. However, in case the applicant withdraws the profile, or the profile gets expire, and they submit a new profile, the time and date for the past profile submission will not be considered.
