CANADA GLOBAL TALENT STREAM 2017

Global Talent Stream (GTS) help specific international skilled workers to acquire a Canadian work permit in just 2 weeks of time period. This program is one of the strongest milestones in Canada’s Global Skills Strategy, and is making it easy for growing companies to hire highly talented workers within a short period of time.

Global Talent Stream is section of Canada’s Temporary Foreign Worker Program.


Global Talent Stream is further divided into 2 categories:

Global Talent Stream: Category A

Canadian companies with higher growth and who can state the requirement for specific international skilled worker comes into Category A. Employers under category A must be referred by an authorized referral partner.

Global Talent Stream: Category B

Employers wish to hire international skilled workers for specific occupations under the National Occupation Classification (NOC) come into Category B. These selected occupations are stated in the Global Talent Occupations List, which may get modified periodically depending upon the labour market requirements. The below mentioned list is created by a mutual association of the Canada government, labour market experts and Major stakeholders.

Employers falling under any category must fulfill below mentioned criteria for skilled workers wages. International workers recruited through Global Talent Stream must be given a salary amount equivalent to current wage or above.

The current wage must be higher than:

  • Canada Job Bank occupation’s average wage
  • the salary amount paid by an employer to his existing staff under same position at the same location, holding the same skills and work experience
  • the minimum salary amount stated in the Global Talent occupations list for few occupations

Labour Market Benefits Plan under Global Talent Stream

Employers wishing to recruit international skilled workers via Global Talent Stream must fulfill the requirements of Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) in order to achieve the Labour Market Benefits Plan.

According to the plan, the international skilled workers to be hired must bring positive benefits to the labour market of Canada, and their Canadian employers must create jobs and invest skills and training.

Category A employers:
They must create jobs for Canadian citizens and permanent residents through direct or indirect ways.

Category B employers:

They must invest skills and training programs for Canadian citizens and permanent residents.
