The Skilled-Regional (Provisional) visa – subclass 489 is constructed for those skilled profiles and their families who wish to live, work and study in a particular regional area of Australia for a period of 4 years.
Candidates who are nominated by an Australian state or territory government or sponsored by an eligible relative living in a designated area of Australia can apply for this visa program.

There are 3 stages involved:
The first stage involves completion of a skill assessment under the relevant government authorities. Your Educational and Employment Documents are examined for the required level of skill in your nominated occupation in Australia.
After a successful skill assessment, your Expression of Interest (EOI) will be lodged in front of the Australian Government, which will declare your interest to live and work in Australia.
Once you have been issued an Invitation to Apply (ITA), you can submit your final application for Skilled Regional (provisional) Visa – subclass 489.
The Duration for Visa processing depends upon the particular case lodged and is based on personal circumstances.
A time period of 3 months on average is taken to process 489 subclass visa application for overseas applicants.
